Chinese iSupport
iSupport program is an education and skill training program for informal carers of people living with dementia in community care settings. This program was originally developed by the World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO iSupport program has been culturally adapted into the Chinese-Australian community through a project entitled ‘Strengthening professional collaboration in dementia caregiver education and research via the provision and evaluation of the iSupport program in Australia and Greater China’. The project is funded by the National Foundation of Australia-China Relations, Australian Government. The aims of the project are to:
- 1. Strengthen professional collaboration in the provision and evaluation of the Chinese iSupport program in Australia, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau.
- 2. Enhance understanding and exchange of Chinese carers’ experiences in these regions.
- 3. Showcase Australia’s excellence in dementia care policies, standards and care services.
- 4. Use the Chinese iSupport program as an opportunity to engage Australia’s diverse communities in developing multilingual iSupport programs.
- 5. Showcase innovation via online education and virtual carer support groups in responding to COVID-19 outbreaks.
The Chinese iSupport program includes: 1) an online iSupport website; 2) an eBook; and 3) an audiobook. Please read the “User instructions” section to know how to access and use these formats of Chinese iSupport manual. We organised regular webinars throughout the iSupport project life. You can access the recorded webinars via the “Recorded webinars” section.
